Pecos River Brass is a 20 piece big band based since 2000 in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.
We perform for a variety of concert jazz venues and private functions and dances of
all types.    We perform our own arrangements as well as the music from the great
Jazz Big Bands.   We are a mainstream band with a love of melody, harmony & rhythm.
You can see videos below and listen to our band mp3s at the bottom of the page.
Contact John C. Smith at john@pecosriverbrass.com for booking information.

Jazz on a Sunday Afternoon

Pecos River Brass will be starting a new gig on July 19th, at the Lakewood Bar & Grill
in the Lakewood Shopping Center at
6340 Gaston in East Dallas.  They have a regular

Sunday afternoon jazz program there and you can see other Dallas area jazz notables

such as Chuck Mandernach's "Them Bones"  and John Wasson's 12 piece

"Stratta Big Band," Dave Zoller, and Jack Allday's "Swing Shift" Dixieland band among

others.  Lets home this can be a venue for PRB and others for some time.

It is non smoking, good food, and we'd love to see you there
for our opening.  We perform from 2-5, and there is a $5 cover.

In addition if you can't make the Lakewood event, or just can't get enough of us,
the following Sunday, July 26th, from 3-6 we will return to Maple Point
Bar & Grill at 5415 Maple Avenue in Dallas.    Also a $5 cover.   Lots of area
venues are looking at Sunday afternoons as a good time to relax with jazz.

Big Band Jazz Charts

If you have a band and are interested in charts to perform,
PRB's charts are available for purchase.   In addition I have
a library of about 1500 big band arrangements primarily from
the big band revival of the late 50's on.   Many are non published
chart from the libraries of Count Basie, Woody Herman, Les
Elgart and others.    I DO NOT copy currently available published
charts, but I have many in great condition, professionally
hand copied charts unavailable anywhere else.    A list of the
library is attached to this website with a link at the upper left.

Pecos River Brass performed at the
Highland Village Balloon Festival on

Paul Valentine took a lot of photos and
put together a very nice slide show.

Jeeze I am honored! Great chart and the band sounds better than ever! You out did me. I did Alice for an organist in Sweden many years ago and put it into my "American classics" category on my web site-you might get a kick out of a few of these. I just started playing the trumpet (not on this track) so I'm thrashing away on school days and a few others-keep up the good work and say hi to the band-I wish I had the lead players chops!”
